5.  Ben Coates – Patriots (Super Bowl XXXI)

With a game-high six receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown, Coates registered one of the best Super Bowl tight end performances working with Drew Bledsoe at Super Bowl XXXI. Now Patriots’ fans are hoping that they not only have a tight end that can match Coates’ Super Bowl production, but exceed it in Gronkowski.

4. Dave Casper – Raiders (Super Bowl XI)

A Hall of Fame Inductee in 2002, Casper is remembered by football fans in Oakland for his four-catch, 70-yard performance in Super Bowl XI, a 32-14 win over the Vikings. Casper was an absolute monster in that game, including his touchdown reception in the first quarter that helped set the tone for the per head game.

Say what you want about Ben Roethlisberger, but don’t say that he doesn’t deserve to be on this list. Yes, the Steelers had incredible defenses in his two Super Bowl wins, and yes he did have some solid coaching and weapons, but Big Ben’s ability to perform at an elite level in the clutch is what has separated him from the rest. His game-winning touchdown pass to Santonio Holmes in the Steelers’ 27-23 win over the Cardinals at Super Bowl XLIII was the stuff of legend, and it’s hard to believe that Pittsburgh would have had the same success with lesser quarterbacks.

4. John Elway – Denver Broncos (2-time winner)

The heart and soul of two Broncos’ championship teams, Elway may not have been the best player on the team but he wanted it as bad as any other winner before him. Named Super Bowl MVP for his 336-yard passing performance in a 34-19 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII, Elway’s passion for winning is what separated him from the rest in the final two years of his NFL career.

3. Steve Young – San Francisco 49ers

Breaking Joe Montana’s record of six touchdowns against the San Diego Chargers was incredible, and Young threw for 325 total yards in Super Bowl XXIX to finally gain the acceptance of the San Francisco fans that had loved the other 49ers’ quarterback on this sports betting sites list.

When you look at past decades and the teams that won the Super Bowl, no team stands out more than the ’89 49ers, an absolute powerhouse led the league in scoring while also somehow managing to finish third in points allowed. Led by Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana and Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice, this San Francisco team manhandled the AFC Champion Denver Broncos 55-10 in one of the most lopsided games in Super Bowl history.

2) Chicago Bears – 1985

Running back Walter Payton and one of the toughest defenses in NFL history made things a lot easier on Jim McMahon, helping to establish the blueprint for teams to win with a power-running game and elite defense for years to come. This Bears’ team actually shutout the New York Giants and Los Angeles Rams in consecutive wins before blowing away the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, winning those first two NFC games by a combined 45-0 score.

3) Miami Dolphins – 1972

This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the only undefeated team in NFL history, and the fact that the Dolphins accomplished that feat with a backup quarterback under center makes it that much more impressive. With two 1,000-yard rushers in Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris, Miami was nearly impossible to stop, and despite the perfect record they really had to work to beat the Washington Redskins in the Super Bowl.

4) New England Patriots – 2004

Say what you want about the final score in this game, but when it comes down to it, there wasn’t another quarterback in the NFL that could be relied on in a playoff game more than Tom Brady at this time, and it marked the third time in four years that New England would raise the Vince Lombardi trophy. The closest thing to a modern day dynasty, the Patriots set the standard for the new millennium very early on.

5) Dallas Cowboys – 1992

Rarely in Super Bowl history does an offensive line get the majority of the credit, but after the way that the Cowboys opened up holes for running back Emmitt Smith in 1992, they deserve every bit of it. An absolutely stacked Dallas team featuring names like Smith, Troy Aikman, and Michael Irvin pummeled the Buffalo Bills 52-17 in the Super Bowl.
